Hoi An is an ancient town located in the lower section of Thu Bon river, Quang Nam province, about 30km south of Da Nang city. Long time ago, Hoi An was known as a site of Silk Road along the sea with traces of Champa port. In 17th and 18thcentury, Hoi An became a bustling trading port, a meeting place of traders from Japan, China and Western countries. Hoi An now has been well-reserved as a special example of trading port city in Southeast Asia.
